Position Summary
The Senior Manager Field Engineering focuses efforts on developing strategy and technical capabilities of the global Field Engineering team, securing organizational resources necessary to execute and deliver on the strategy.
The position creates a vision for how Field Engineering will drive sales growth within our target markets, determining the engineering and/or service requirements desired by the customer. This will be done by creating an environment where new field engineers can systematically onboard, gain the subject matter expertise required, and provide technical solutions that enhances brand in the eyes of our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish the vision to grow Swagelok’s share of application sales through Field Engineering expertise within our key target markets
- Develop and execute a 3-year business plan for Field Engineering, on an annual basis, which includes:

- Sales projections and metrics

- Associate development plans

- Departmental roadmap indicating areas of expansion of activities as it supports the Global Growth Strategy
- A key element is driving sales growth through Field Engineering activities and services. This individual will be held accountable for setting and achieving the revenue generated through the global Field Engineering team.
- Convene annual Field Engineering Summits regionally. Determine venue for the summit based on the impact that the local business would experience as a result of the presence of the Field Engineering team.
- Conduct regularly scheduled conference calls with the global Field Engineering regional area managers. Utilize technology, such as iSwagelok team site, to capture and share information.
- Develop and revise when necessary a departmental handbook of Field Engineering processes and standard work which provides appropriate infrastructure and definition to the Field Engineering group. Specific processes to be identified in the handbook should include, but not be limited to, the following:

- On-boarding of new Field Engineers

- Documented certification programs for Field Engineering technical capabilities

- Process by which FE’s document and track their sales calls

- Process by which FE strategic plans are aligned with the Distributor Operating Plans
- Drive the use and improvement of Smartsheet and/or CRM while making it an integral part of capturing customers’ needs and expectations.
- Develop the technical capabilities and leadership competencies of the team to effectively lead change initiatives.
- Develop skills of associates in the areas of leadership, customer support, and problem solving. Create and maintain an environment that promotes teamwork, energy, and efficiency.
- Develop the global field engineering budget and manage to the budget. Institute pragmatic year-over-year cost saving measures for the group.
- Interact with the product returns group to direct Field Engineering resources to troubleshoot customers’ existing installations.
- Publish quarterly reports documenting the commercial impact of the actions taken by the global Field Engineering team. Report should provide highlights of each individual team member’s distributor support activities.
- Review and provide feedback to individual Field Engineers regarding this sales and distributor support plans.
- When required, update the position descriptions for all positions specific to the Field Engineering function. Communicate any changes in responsibilities to any affected parties.

Education and Work Experience Requirements
Education: BS in engineering; MBA preferred
Experience: 10+ years in a leadership position
