Position Summary:
The Weld Training Specialist role is responsible for managing all weld capabilities programs in support of the Engineering Services Group and Sales and Service Center capabilities and associated training needs.  The Weld Training Specialist will manage all current weld certification programs offered by Swagelok; becoming qualified to train and certify associates in accordance to current Swagelok training standards. The role is also responsible to support customer specific weld training offered by Sales and Service Centers, including all current welding classes now being supported by Distributor Sales Team.  The Weld Training Specialist will lead coordination and revitalization efforts of the Weld Specialists at the Sales and Service Centers,

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

•    Develop and provide specific, targeted training focused on the Swagelok Orbital Welding equipment and associated Swagelok Certification programs to promote sales and drive additional revenue for both Swagelok and Swagelok Sales and service Centers
•    Develop and train on weld “recertification” programs to insure that the distributor associates stay current in their knowledge and capabilities.
•    Provide subject matter expert (SME) support for all welding related certification programs offered by Swagelok
•    Provide Sales and Service Centers with additional training and information on new welding related products, new weld programs etc, with a focus on growing sales.
•    Establish best practices and facilitate sharing of this information globally
•    Represent Swagelok on welding standards committees
•    Become the applications expert in GTAW welding for internal and external customers.
•    Develop and own new welding related certification programs, including manual welding
•    Support customer application troubleshooting or problem solving of welding or materials related symptoms to promote Swagelok or product capability.

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Required:
•    5-10 years of welding related work experience 
•    2-5 years of in depth field experience in welding, with a focus on orbital welding
•    Strong business acumen with experience in customer facing roles
•    Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent working experience    
Preferred:
•    Formal technical training or certification in welding
•    Materials background or related experience a plus
•    CWI and or CWE certifications preferred, or willingness to gain certification as soon as possible. 
•    Training experience or certifications in GTAW, including orbital TIG welding, and manual welding processes
•    Competent in using MS Office Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
•    Strong electro-mechanical skills
•    Strong people skills
•    Experience with facilitating training classes or groups of people
•    Service or repair experiences a plus

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

•    Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally.  Travel estimated to be up to 50%
•    Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. 
•    Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
•    May be required to pass pre-employment and annual Vision Acuity tests
