Position Summary:

The Senior Learning Consultant is responsible consulting, assessing, designing, developing, implementing, and facilitating talent solutions which support business needs.  This position will evaluate and maintain innovative learning initiatives, including but not limited to eLearning, alternative, virtual, instructor-led, on-the-job training solutions, and other cutting-edge solutions to enhance the organization’s skills and capabilities. The role identifies opportunities for improving program utilization based on data analytics and customer feedback and provides support for learning and development-based technology.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supports HR Leaders, OD Specialists, Talent Management Specialists, and the business to assess performance gaps and recommend appropriate solutions. Designs and supports the implementation of learning and development programs and initiatives. Serves as a trainer and/or facilitator in support of global learning programs.
  • Utilizes data and appropriate analysis to anticipate and communicate current and emerging needs. Identifies patterns, trends, and measures of effectiveness, proactively providing recommendations to mitigate risk and enable effective learning.
  • Provides performance consulting to recommend the appropriate solution(s) to address the identified learning need, which may include classroom, virtual, print, eLearning, web (interactive, games, assessments, simulations, etc.), audio, video, or other learning formats. This also includes curriculum and learning plan development.
  • Applies knowledge of adult learning theory to design training/learning curriculums to support company strategies and goals.
    • Conducts effective needs analysis to clearly define learning objectives
    • Implements blended learning solutions that address root cause issues to drive business performance
    • Creates online and virtual training programs and conducts classroom-based training programs using facilitation skills to actively engage participants in the learning process
    • Adheres to Instructional Design and development standards
  • Curates externally built and internally built content and act as learning & development enabler for the organization. Clearly demonstrates the value of learning & development to the organization.
  • Actively manages subject matter expert relationships to gather input needed to create learner-centric, audience-appropriate media and collaborates with appropriate teams to identify tools, areas for improvement and align training with strategic objectives that adheres to communication, brand, cultural and product guidelines as appropriate.
  • Follows Swagelok training governance model and project management methodologies for development of learning solutions, including clear articulation of business case for alternative solutions.
  • Maintains and updates content in the LMS and archives; performs general troubleshooting in the LMS.
  • Sources, identifies, and selects external resources for development of relevant content and tools, as necessary to meet region and market needs; reviews and evaluates services on basis of quality, compatibility with culture and values, time considerations, and cost versus in-house funding. Negotiates prices, delivery, and other terms of service. Manages the relationships with vendors.
  • Provides consultation and support for education and development-based events and initiatives driven by the Swagelok Associate Resource Groups, acting as a liaison between the group and the ARG council

Education and/or Work Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree required in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Training and Development or related field. 
  • Minimum of 5 years direct experience in training, learning consulting or organizational development.
  • Experience consulting and partnering with leadership and functional areas to meet their learning and development needs.
  • Knowledge and experience applying proven instruction design methodologies (e.g. ADDIE, SAM, etc.) to create learning solutions.
  • Minimum of 2 years direct experience creating eLearning through authoring software and utilizing a Learning Management System.


  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Storyline 360 authoring software experience preferred.
  • SuccessFactors learning management system experience preferred.
  • Sharepoint and Office 365 experience preferred.
  • Skillsoft and Percipio administration experience preferred.
