Position Summary:


Performs new technology research and development with the application of standard and advanced techniques / procedures to improve efficiency of our most critical manufacturing & assembly processes.  Collaborates cross-functionally to define new technology value proposition and translate into technology development requirements.  Develops clear and specific objectives for given assignments that may require the investigation of several alternative solutions.  Develops thoughts and ideas into engineered solutions with approval from supervisor and provides guidance to other engineers and technicians.  Effectively participates in team settings and serves as a ‘thought leader’ to achieve results.  Effectively communicates status of moderate to large R&D/automation technology development projects to stakeholders.  This role provides a hybrid work enviorment with the flexability to work partialy from home.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leads and/or participates in moderate to large R&D/Automation projects.
  • Effectively communicates progress through both management updates and in team meetings.
  • Assignments to include existing process research, new technology research & development and selection of best fit solution to realize defined value.
  • Experience in project management.  Completes assignments on time according to customer expectations / defined success criteria.
  • Knowledgeable in the utilization of current process control technologies
  • Knowledgeable in statistical methods and design of experiments
  • Trains and supports the development of engineers, technicians and non-technical associates.
  • Preparation and deployment of specifications and/or related documentation.
  • Works with manufacturing personnel to ensure the smooth implementation of new technology into plant operations.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:



BS degree in Engineering plus appropriate continuous training.


5+ years, engineering project leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. Some formal exposure to areas outside own department. Recognized as a resource in areas of expertise.

Technical Skills:

Ability to solve complex problems and complete multiple projects using advanced problem solving methods to make decisions. Develops new technology independently or collaboratively, as needed. Ability to apply statistical methods to ensure successful translation of R&D into a production environment.  Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong computer and typical office software skills.
