Position Summary:


Plans and performs non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity, using precedence that are not fully applicable.  Utilizes strong product and process development practices and extensive automation, industrial controls design & PLC programming knowledge working directly with peers in the development of solutions to meet their business needs.  Trains and develops other engineers and technicians to use good engineering practices.  May utilize project management methods to complete assignments, or to plan, direct, and coordinate activities of functional area as part of a corporate cross-functional project.




Essential Duties & Responsibilities:




Regarded as an expert for Allen Bradley PLC control system design and programming with regard to all technical aspects of the systems and has experience integrating Epson Robot systems.


Lead development of sequence of operations for new equipment in collaboration with process & product subject matter experts


Provide solutions recommendations for the support of strategic objectives defined by the service group leadership team.  Assists in the identification of new opportunities 


Provide expertise to ensure a low and or mitigated risk position in solutions developed for the service group. 


Interprets programming & functionality of existing controls systems and makes successful modifications to integrate new functionality or products where applicable


Assure the use of standard systems, procedures and methods where existing standard work or relevant safety codes exist.  Modify and or create new means when and where needed. 


Provide technical leadership and guidance for development of peers and in project execution.  Acts as a technical liaison between operations, engineering, & maintenance departments.


Works with cross-functional resources to accurately portray; budget, timeline, resource planning in respect to role


Works to foster technical growth of peers including engineers and maintenance technicians. 






Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:






A BS degree in Engineering plus appropriate continuing education 


7+ years of experience or developmental experience in a professional position 


Some formal exposure to areas outside own department. 


Recognized as a resource in areas of expertise.  


Ability to solve complex problems and complete multiple projects, uses advanced problem solving methods to make decisions.  


Applies proven technology independently.  


Strong oral and written communication.  


Strong computer and typical office software skills.




Strong preference will be given to associates with extensive experience in designing industrial controls systems with Epson Robots, Panelview HMI, RSLogix 5000, Compaclogix, Micrologix PLC


Strong preference will be given to associates with a Professional Engineering License


1+ year of manufacturing experience

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.


Requires domestic and international travel of 10-20%


May be required to pass pre-employment and annual Vision Acuity tests
