Inside Sales Representative

The inside sales associate provides distributors, sales and support personnel, internal and external customers, and account managers with commercial & supply chain services that are provided with enthusiasm, empathy, knowledge of Swagelok’s capabilities, and an understanding of the customers’ needs. The inside sales rep provides solutions that demonstrate our brand promise, our full capabilities, and our focus on customer satisfaction. The inside sales rep can effectively train new associates on standard transactions and product offerings. They can also participate in cross functional projects or initiatives.

 

  • Competent in all inside sales work processes and procedures and/or functional expertise of a related department.  Can process all standard transactions, answer standard customer inquiries, navigate internal resources, host and actively participate in department meetings.  Can effectively train new associates on standard transactions and product offerings.
  • Familiar with navigating the departmental resources to troubleshoot & solve work related problems.  Can participate in cross functional projects or initiatives.
  • Communicates in a clear and professional manner to solve customer problems while successfully transferring internal and external customers to appropriate resources.  Recommend improvements to immediate supervisor on standard work processes.  Has the ability to influence peers in a variety of settings.
  • Has strong working knowledge of basic systems tools previously and is able to identify basic business system issues and communicate with Information Systems (I.S.) to fix problems; able to create/modify simple documents to write instructions and organize/sort data.
  • Strong working knowledge of non-systems related transactional work procedures/policies specific to Customer Service.
  • Limited understanding of basic distributor business practices and self-service tools.
  • Competent in reviewing bill of material structure, ability to recognize complimentary products, accessory parts, kits, etc.  Other technical competencies could include processing international paperwork, managing demand & inventory, and collaborating with the warehouse operations team. Proficient in departmental specific product offering.  Completed supervisor approved training curriculum.
  • Understands corporate initiatives and strategic accounts, and offers creative solutions to problems of greater complexity that demonstrate understanding of the situation and our capabilities.
  • Broadens knowledge to include typical applications, industry jargon, and a general understanding of the industry landscape.  Increased knowledge enables better communication and understanding of customer needs.  Recognition of Key Accounts and Alliances while identifying customer tendencies. Exemplifies service orientation and regularly delivers world class customer service call quality.  Takes ownership of customer issues and begins to independently navigate the internal organization in order to create solutions for customers.  Participate in Service Field Exchange Program to help build customer and distributor rapport.
  • Demonstrates creative thinking when approaching tasks, problems, or opportunities.  Begins to challenge current processes and thinks outside the box.
  • Manages own time and participates in additional project efforts.  Resource pool consists of supervisor and departmental peers, and related departments.  Proficiently uses existing tools to accomplish multiple tasks of moderate to difficult scope.
  • Establishes relationships with key contacts in multi-functional peer groups.  Communicates key activities with team members along with an action plan.  Works with others within team to establish best practices, opportunities for product knowledge, and process efficiencies.
  • Recognizes the importance of change, introduces new ideas for others to act on and positively participates in change projects.  Capable of permanently or as needed shifting to other service groups to support the fluctuating demands of our business.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Scope:

  • Occasional travel between Swagelok locations, Distributors, and Customers
  • Service normally operates between the hours of 6 AM and 9PM weekdays.  Occasional weekend and/or holidays hours are also required.  The department manager approves the work schedule

 

Entry level position into office environment/career.

 

Experience required:  Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of supply chain/customer service experience.  High school diploma or equivalent required, though Bachelor's degree preferred for advancement opportunities. Capable of learning position through on the job training and becoming the example for peers in similar, entry level positions
