Position Summary:
Prepare journal entries and assist in the monthly financial closing process.  Perform accounting research on recently issued accounting guidance and document the Company’s accounting position.  Analyze financial position, operating results and account activity.  Streamline the monthly closing process and present process improvement recommendations to management.  Will be involved in various Finance projects. Assist with the year-end external audit and statutory audit filings of the company. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist in the monthly financial closing process.  Analyze account activity and operating results.
• Generate accounting research memos to document the Company’s accounting position.
• Monitor new accounting pronouncements.
• Work with external auditors closely throughout the year and facilitate annual audit compiling audit requirements and responding to inquiries
• Work with foreign/subsidiary locations on reporting, including all relevant statutory audits/reporting.
• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for the benefit plan audits.
• Creating supporting documentation and analysis for the semi-annual stock valuation.
• Identify and implement improvements to existing closing procedures and processes.
• Account analysis, ad-hoc analysis/support of proposed business decisions and management inquiries.
• Other Finance projects as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or B.A. with major in accounting)
• 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience
• Requires a broad knowledge of accounting (GAAP, financial statement preparation and related footnote disclosures, transaction processing)
• Extensive knowledge of US GAAP
• Strong knowledge of accounting and financial accounting systems
• Ability to perform accounting research and write technical memos
• Ability to analyze and reconcile complex financial transactions and reports
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft products, specifically Microsoft Excel (Access a plus). 
• Good interpersonal skills, with strong communication and leadership skills
• Self-starter, analytical, sense of urgency, works well independently and in a team
• Requires little supervision.

Preferred:
• General accounting and financial reporting background preferred with exposure to manufacturing companies.
• CPA a plus

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
