Position Summary:
Our BI Architect will bring thought leadership to help define and execute BI and analytics strategies focused on driving business outcomes. This role will be a business partner to drive strategies and solutions focusing on modern data warehousing, and really lean in to understand business requirements that lead to effective and efficient outcomes for business clarity and transparency.  This position partners with IT and business leadership to define and execute BI and analytics strategies focused on driving business outcomes.  The role is responsible for the overall design of the business information and analytics architecture, across multiple platforms and data types (structured, semi-structured and unstructured), and will balance the need for access against security and performance requirements. This role focuses on BI and analytics requirements: design, access, usage and stewardship.  Also included are the development or use of process models, creation or use of information or target data models, interface designs, and development of internal and external checks and controls to ensure proper governance, security and quality of information assets.  
 

 

Key Responsibilities:
•    Define the strategy and methodologies to ensure coordination and optimization across enterprise platforms (Enterprise BI, and self-service analytics).

 •   Develop and foster close working relationships with key LOB stakeholders, such as mangers, LOB project-managers/engineers, Key-Account managers and other senior/lead subject matter experts

•    Proactively identify potential data design changes that would benefit the organization
•    Translate strategic requirements through strong business partenerships into a usable enterprise information architecture.
•    Participate in the definition of technical standards and guidelines that pertain to data and information use, security, access and governance
•    Ensure existing data/information assets are identified, stewarded and leveraged across the enterprise.
•    Ensure a focus on information/data quality by developing and publishing enterprise data standards such as a common business vocabulary, naming conventions, data standards, transformation rules and related enterprise consistency specifications.
•    Establish guidelines for reporting procedures on the reuse of enterprise information architecture artifacts.
•    Analyze information to evaluate the effectiveness of controls, determine the accuracy of reports, and monitor the efficiency and security of operations.
•    Coordinate new development activities and ensure they are consistent and well-integrated with the established enterprise information architecture, using metadata management and/or a repository to promote reuse and standards adoption.
•    Review corporate data sources for new business information and better sources of data feeds.
•    Assess IT purchases relative to the BI and analytics strategy
•    Develop and foster close working relationships with project managers, project personnel and other architects from across IS and the Business
•    Maintain current knowledge of analytics trends and emerging technologies.

 

Position Requirements
Education: 
Bachelor’s Degree with strong database, data structure, or architecture background or equivalent related work experience that provides in-depth knowledge and exposure to software development.  

Experience: 6+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, data warehousing design and administration, and information modelling. 3+ years as BI developer leading projects. Strong Business Intelligence (BI) experience with cloud analytics applications required. 


Skills/Knowledge: 

  • Can develop and articulate a vision on how to optimize a company’s business intelligence landscape supporting key data domains and driving the business value of enterprise data. 
  • Experience leading a matrixed data governance organization and creating annual business cases for data governance related projects. 
  • In-depth experience designing and implementing information solutions. 
  • Knowledgeable in the design and construction of information architectures that enable well-integrated transactional, collaborative and analytical systems.
  • Has successfully developed and implemented a master data management solution. 
  • Business skills will include strong business-knowledge of multiple areas of manufacturing organizations (e.g. Production, Engineering, Customer Service, Finance, Marketing, Distribution & Logistics, etc.); excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with all levels of the organization; ability to work within and lead a team; ability to influence others; conflict/resolution skills.  
  • Technical skills will include knowledge of what applications exist in the environment and what sort of data each system needs and stores; understanding of the key technologies used to develop databases, including knowledge of relative strengths and weaknesses of the different technologies.
