Position Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting the Market Managers in managing Swagelok’s commercial business within specified industries; specific focus on Industry 4.0 or Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).  This role will focus on, but not be limited to, the commercial and internally facing aspects of our business within the industry segment.  However, significant customer interaction is expected.  The Associate Market Manager will work directly with Sales and Service Centers and end customers on targeted opportunities to identify their business needs, develop plans to meet these needs and then drive the plans to execution within Swagelok.  The Associate Market Manager will handle many of the unique business requests and issues that occur in the industry segment on a regular basis.  This individual will also work with the Marketing, Operations, Customer Service and Engineering groups to provide vision, guidance, and direction in the development and execution of plans for the target applications. Using influence and strong business cases, this individual will help drive selected roadmap projects to execution throughout the Swagelok organization.  They will also provide support to the Market Manager(s) in his or her efforts to map the technology and business trends in each market, determine the products or services required by customers and prioritize them in a product and technology roadmap.

 

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a focal point for atypical business opportunities within the marketplace.  Coordinate these activities throughout the greater Swagelok organization and drive them to resolution.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams within Swagelok and provide vision, guidance and direction in the formulation, development, and implementation of targeted new business solutions for the target market.
  • Lead the pursuit of new business opportunities and projects and coordinate activities across multiple distributorships. 
  • Begin to develop an understanding of target market behaviors, industry drivers, future requirements, key trends, and buyers – particularly as it relates to commercial activities.
  • Advance Swagelok’s position in the target market through the development of innovative business practices that meet the evolving needs of this market.
  • Uses significant understanding of customer needs and experiences to direct product development efforts and lead customer engagements.
  • Leads VOC and customer insight efforts, assuring team understands and uses best practices. Develops commercial strategies using defined commercialization processes.
  • Handle product DCN’s, NDA’s and catalog updates.  Assist with trade shows.
  • Take ownership of selected projects within the target market’s strategic plan.  Participate in updating the strategic plan and providing regular status updates on its projects. 
  • Understand competitors’ actions regarding Swagelok and this market and develop counter-measures.
  • Support global alliance pricing and product promotion within this industry.

  • Communicate with various customers and Sales and Service Centers.  Share with the Market Manager(s) what you learn related to the following:

-   Market conditions

-   Economic and technological trends

-   Key customer and competitor activities

-   Developments and changes in industry codes, regulations and standards

-   New applications for Swagelok products      

  • Grow this market segment and help align Swagelok’s companywide activities in this market.
  • Develop the core positioning and messaging that differentiates assigned products in the market.
  • Other activities as requested.

Education and/or Work Experience Required:

Education: BS in business, marketing or engineering, MBA preferred.

 

Experience: Prefer a minimum of 4 years in a business, marketing manager, product line manager, customer service or sales role within the target market.  Should have experience related to sales, service/support or contract negotiations.  Basic knowledge of the marketplace, including customers, business practices, products, applications and technology, is desired.  Experience with the Swagelok distributor organization is a plus.
