Position Summary:

The Organizational Development and Learning Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, facilitating, and/or sourcing OD and talent solutions which support the business needs of the regions and markets. The position will also build OD and talent capabilities of the HR teams they support. Responsibilities of this role include facilitating the effective use of global OD and Talent programs by teaching others the value and application of these programs. The role identifies opportunities for improving program utilization based on data analytics customer feedback. This role also diagnoses and applies OD frameworks and methods. Lastly, this role demonstrates a strong, working knowledge of OD concepts that can be shared as practical solutions for the business.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supports HR Business Partners globally to evaluate talent needs and proposes recommendations for closing the gaps; Designs and supports the implementation of learning and development programs and/or initiatives; Serves as a trainer and/or facilitator to support the execution of global learning programs such as new employee orientation, new leader essentials, etc.
  • Uses internal HR data (employee survey, performance, HR metrics, etc.) and appropriate analysis to anticipate and communicate current and emerging needs. Identifies patterns, trends and measures of effectiveness and proactively offers recommendations to mitigate risk as appropriate based on analysis.
  • Supports the targeted development of key leaders by recommending appropriate learning solutions based on development plan goals.
  • Proactively addresses & responds to Organizational Development issues by bringing key stakeholders (or leaders/business partners) together to assess root causes and performance gaps, implementing and/or supporting implementation of appropriate interventions including strategic planning, tactical and project planning, facilitation, instruction, program design, materials development and performance analysis.
  • Designs, executes and measures the effectiveness of a mix of OD programs to meet the organizational talent needs of assigned workforce segments.  Applies knowledge of adult learning theory to design training/learning curriculums to support company strategies and goals.
    • Conducts effective needs analysis to clearly define learning objectives
    • Implements blended learning solutions that address root cause issues to drive business performance
    • Conducts classroom based training programs using advanced facilitation skills to actively engage participants in the learning process
    • Adheres to Instructional Design and development standards
  • Sources, identifies, and selects external resources for development of relevant content and tools, as necessary to meet region and market needs; reviews and evaluates services on basis of quality, compatibility with culture and values, time considerations, and cost versus in-house funding. Negotiates prices, delivery and other terms of service. Manages the relationships with vendors. Partners with global management and HR team to ensure global training and development programs remain aligned with corporate.
  • Uses change management processes and tools to facilitate sustainable change within the organization.
  • Consults with executive management and the HR management team on effective organizational design, workforce development, capability and competency management, leadership development and onboarding.
  • Provides OD and instructional design expertise on company projects as requested.
  • Keeps abreast of changes and trends in talent, organization development and consulting practices; surfaces meaningful recommendations for improvements that will positively impact the organization and its culture. Attends professional seminars to increase knowledge of this specialty area of Human Resources.
  • Assists with the execution of talent management initiatives




Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organization Development, Industrial Organizational Psychology, Business, Education or equivalent

Experience:  7-10 years minimum professional experience in OD, training, HR or other related field



Education: Master’s Degree in Organizational Development, Industrial Organizational Psychology Business

Experience:  Prior experience designing and delivering OD programs in a large organization. 10+ years preferred.  Experience in the following areas highly preferred:

  • Expertise in performance analysis tools and techniques (e.g., needs analysis, root cause analysis, flow charting/ process mapping, job roles and responsibilities mapping, developing performance measures, etc.).
  • High-level instructional design and adult learning theory skills.
  • Expertise in the selection and application of performance improvement techniques, processes, and tools to improve performance (e.g., communities of practice, knowledge management, wiki’s, blogs, social networking analysis and tools, collaboration tools, expert finders, etc.).
  • Knowledge and understanding of business and human resources principles and a working knowledge of the theories and principles of talent management, performance management, organization development. Thorough knowledge of OD programs and demonstrated results in integrating programs/tools/solutions to address business needs and organizational strategy.
  • Ability to build capabilities in groups and/or specific individuals in core subject matter expertise such as talent and performance strategies, change strategies, etc.; apply adult learning theory to the training, serve as facilitator, subject matter expert and presenter; and use group processes effectively
  • Ability to organize and manage complex projects over an extended period; identify, evaluate, and secure appropriate resources; and apply resources in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Leadership skills to oversee and effectively deliver on projects and commitments to internal clients.
