Position Summary:

Performs multiple assignments of moderate to complex scope with minimal guidance from supervisor, other engineers, or detailed procedures.  Independently evaluates, select, and applies appropriate engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Applies market application knowledge in working directly with customers to develop product and solutions to their application needs.   Trains other engineers and technicians within area of engineering expertise.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


•            Regarded as having good, basic knowledge of applications for targeted systems within select markets with regard to all technical aspects of the system.

•            Engages with Distributors and or Customers to consult regarding applications and product selection.

•            Reviews customer specifications to make product recommendations and ensure documentation requirements can be met.

•            Applies appropriate engineering practices to design and develop new products or evaluate existing products with respect to market or customer requirements. Reviews and approves documents.

•            Works cross departmentally through all service groups and other organizations to enable product development, order production and document completion.

•            Maintains all required internal use and external distributed documentation for technical content and correctness.

•            Applies SQS and SQS-F-A2 (Nuclear QA Manual) practices to department programs as applicable.

•            Aides in the development of internal or external suppliers for product manufacture.

•            Formulates plans and implements changes to drive continuous product and product line improvements, with input from various internal and external channels, in a cross functional environment.

•            May manage departmental projects including, budget, timeline, resource planning and reporting.

•            Provides training to other engineers and technicians with respect to all applications support work and may direct the work of and evaluate co-ops.


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:



•            A BS degree in Engineering plus appropriate continuing education

•            5+ years of experience or developmental experience in a professional position.

•            Some formal exposure to areas outside own department.

•            Recognized as a resource in areas of expertise.

•            Product and Design tools (3D Cad, P/DFMEA, Control, Tolerance Analysis, MathCad).

•            Handles moderately complex problems and multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

•            Advanced problem solving and decision making abilities.

•            Applies proven technology independently.

•            Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

•            Excellent time management skills.

•            Strong computer and typical office software skills.



•            Strong preference will be given to associates with Professional Engineering License.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:


•            Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

•            Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

•            May require domestic and international travel of 10-20%

•            May be required to pass pre-employment and annual Vision Acuity tests
