Position Summary:

The Senior Logistics Analyst is responsible for global transportation management and driving improvements in logistics programs through cost management, analysis and projects.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    Project / Process Management

  • Lead and participate in logistics supply chain and logistics projects that produce a measured value to Swagelok or Swagelok distributors.Initiate and evolve strategic initiatives to improve areas of transportation.
  • Analyzes transportation/logistics costs, service, mode selection and accuracy in reporting metrics and costs. This includes freight policy enhancements and network analysis.
  • Identifies opportunities, provides solutions, and incorporate the project into current processes.
  • Model solutions, create baseline current state and develop future state with benefits.
  • Represent logistics on corporate project teams (new product development, sourcing, acquisitions, new country locations, etc).Design and conduct analysis studies to base decisions. These measure business impacts to logistics such as financial costs, service levels, and benefits in business decisions. Develop data queries, prepare budgets, solicit input from inventory planning and operations, and monitor inbound and/or outbound expenditures to ensure compliance with policies and programs.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction by understanding changes in the industry and Swagelok’s business.Propose, assess and collaborate with departments to implement changes and improvements to Swagelok’s freight, order fulfillment policies, including inbound supply chain processes.
  • Define, document and communicate future state logistics business processes to improve service and reduce total supply chain cost across the Swagelok organization, including distributorships and foreign owned facilities.
  • Incorporate international trade concepts to participate in global supply chain and order fulfillment projects.This includes changes to distribution, distributors and policies.
  • Provide education and self-service tools to the organization to empower associates, supervisors and managers making decisions.

 

 

    Transportation Management

  • Manage best-in-class domestic and international transportation/logistics programs through benchmarking and continued education.Scope includes inbound, outbound, intra-company and global distributor shipments.
  • Manage relationships and performance with logistics providers, transportation providers, truck providers, brokers, small parcel providers, freight forwarders and 3rd party logistics providers to leverage service, value-adds, identify outsourcing opportunities and understand global product offerings
  • Evaluate provider performance and services, making changes as business needs dictate.Provide clear and direct feedback on performance and business expectations.Recommend and implement changes in supply base as needed.
  • Resolve significant performance, high value freight claims and contractual issues to ensure alignment with Swagelok expectations
  • Solicit, evaluate, and implement logistics/transportation bids to meet service, cost and risk management goals in alignment with Swagelok expectations.Drive negotiations and work with Sourcing to complete contractual agreements
  • Work across departments and other facilities as needed to evaluate and implement carrier technology and services to support supply chain initiatives
  • Accurately forecast costs for annual budget and within special projects
  • Manage Swagelok’s freight bill audit program with selected 3rd party providers.Provide business rules to provider to ensure proper cost management and reporting.Includes weekly review of payment files.
  • Create, publish and maintain key performance indicators measuring quality, cost, service, and budget variance.
  • Effect changes in business due to import/export compliance requirements
  • Assist in the performance of other departmental duties as specified by the Logistics Management team
  • Performs the above and other miscellaneous duties as assigned in a safe and efficient manner.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Required: 3+ years of experience in previous supply chain/customer service positions
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of supply chain/customer service positions.
  • Proven to be effective in projects and analysis of a larger scale.
